Terms of Service
Last updated 5 October 2026
By using Candid you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
The short version
- Add only your own home's rent, and add it truthfully.
- What you see is for your own use. No scraping, copying or reselling.
- The numbers are people's reports. They are a guide, not advice.
What Candid is
Candid is a map of what people say they pay, and in some cases what is asked, for rent. You can look around, open a few rents a day, and add your own rent to see all of them. We do not check figures against leases or with landlords, and Candid does not list homes for rent.
Your account
You log in with a code we email you, or with your Google account. You must be 18 or over. Keep control of your email and Google account: you are responsible for what happens under your account. One person, one account.
Adding your rent
When you add a rent you confirm that:
- it is the rent for your own home, which you pay or recently paid;
- the figures are true to the best of your knowledge, and the pin is where you live, roughly;
- you are not adding anyone else's personal details.
Please do not add made-up, joke or copied rents, or rents for places you do not rent. We check every rent automatically and may hold, correct or remove ones that look wrong. We may close accounts that abuse the service. You can ask us to delete your rent at any time.
What you give us
What you add stays yours. You give us permission to store it, check it, and show it anonymously to other members, and in totals, medians and comparisons across the site and in anything we publish about rents. We will not show your name or email.
What you may and may not do with what you see
The rents on Candid are for your own personal use, to understand what an area costs and to decide where to live. You may not:
- scrape, crawl, download in bulk, or use bots or scripts to collect rents or any other part of the site;
- copy, republish, sell, or use the rents to build or improve another product or database, and the same goes for the area figures, medians and comparisons: they may not be redistributed in bulk (sharing one with a friend is fine);
- try to find out who added a rent, or to identify people from their rent;
- use Candid to advertise, find clients or collect leads, including as a broker or agent;
- make extra accounts, or add made-up, copied or unrelated rents, only to unlock the data, or use more than one account to get past a limit;
- overload or probe the service, or get around its limits and protections, such as the daily peeks, the limits on how much one account can read, or the need to add a rent first.
If you want to use Candid's data for research, or in another product, ask first: email hello@candidrent.com. We may say yes, in writing, and without that written permission the list above applies.
The figures we send to your account may carry a small mark, different for every account and never visible, and may include a few entries that are not on the map (they are never shown to anyone and never counted in any figure), so that a copy can be traced to the account that made it. To keep the data from being copied, we may limit or slow access, keep counts of how much each account reads, refuse email addresses from temporary-email services, and block or close accounts that look like copying. If you do any of the things above, we may block your access and take other action.
Accuracy, and not advice
Rents are reported by people, or taken from asking prices, so they can be wrong, out of date, or different from your own home. Medians and comparisons are rough guides. Candid is information. It is not legal, financial or housing advice, so check before you sign or negotiate anything. We are not a party to any lease.
The service
We try to keep Candid running, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no promise that it will always work or that any figure is accurate. We may change, pause or end any part of it, including the daily peeks and the cities it covers.
Limits on our responsibility
As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make using Candid. Our total responsibility to you for anything to do with Candid is limited to the amount you paid us to use it, which today is nothing.
Ending
You can stop using Candid at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and if you keep using Candid after a change you accept it.
