Candid rent data: median rent by city and home type
What people really pay in rent, in one table you can quote or download. Each figure is the median (the middle rent: half pay less, half pay more) for one home type in one city, and it appears only once 20 or more rents are behind it.

What these numbers are
- Rents come from renters who reported what they pay, and from public flatmate and room listings. Part of the data is read from listings, so a figure can sit nearer asking rents than signed leases.
- This is not a price index. It is not adjusted for season, building type or size, and a median of a few dozen rents can move when a few more arrive.
- Rents read from listings are rounded so no single rent can be traced. The step by city: Bengaluru ₹500, Bay Area $50, London £50, New York $50, Dublin €50, Berlin €50.
- A home type shows only once 20 or more rents are behind it. Individual rents, buildings and exact locations are never published.
- The table is rebuilt whenever new rents arrive. This edition is 2026-10.
